Statistical Perspectives

In 2012, there were 8,855 murders* involving firearms; 8,124 in 2014 (a nearly 8% decrease). (FBI, FBI-2)
(*Justifiable homicides are not murders. CDC data differs and includes all homicides.)
In 2015, the numbers rose again, to 9,616 murders (still a much lower rate than those in the 1990's).
