![]() |
(June 2025)
The last Six years have been very productive. We are grateful for the good weather and quality time we have had to complete projects. The property line fence project is complete - over 6,000 feet. We continue to prune trees, remove stumps, and clean up the ground. The fence and gate system we have constructed is already a helpful barrier against various unwanted pests including stray dogs, deer, and turtles. In addition, we started and completed an approximately 170-foot
bog bridge across the bamboo watercourse. We began milling our own
lumber, and the bridge was a perfect outdoor project to use some
of our first cuts.It is an ongoing project. We already need to
replace treads; nevertheless, we can still more easily walk across
the swampy terrain.
Milling logs with a chainsaw: It is a fairly affordable means of getting started with sawing your own lumber. That being said, it is time consuming and quite a physical challenge. We have determined that, given the effort and patience required to complete the cuts, it is a good option for milling a few logs for personal use. Any enterprise beyond that - more discouraging and/or disappointing than helpful. ... Yes, we are already at this stage.
Our more recent projects included an expansion of our chicken
coops, a free-range chicken tractor, and an enclosed duck pond. We
are raising more varied chicken breeds in the hopes of having more
year-round egg production (Easter Eggers, Blue Andalusions, Brown
Leghorns, Silkie Rooster, and a mystery breed from the hatchery, I
believe a Silver Spangled Hamburg).
The latest of our projects include:
1 - Gazebotory. A backyard octagonal observatory with a rolling
roof. (Completed.)
2 - Remodeled and stained gazebo greenhouse (added roof windows).
(Partially completed.)
3 - Solar power systems and Power-tory (Completed)
4 - Updated and Expanded Gazebotory Power System (Completed)
5 - Completion of Upstairs Bonus Room (Mostly completed.)
6 - Installation of Plantation Shutters (Planning phase.)
(November 2019)
The "sandpile" driveways are no more. After years of ruts, dust, and uneven tracks, we decided to put down stone on both driveways (main home driveway and Lydon 6 Drive). ... What a drastic and welcomed improvement.![]() ![]() Driveway and Roundabout - June 2017 |

(July 2016)
1. Completed garden irrigation systems. Temporary feed lines are all
replaced. All three irrigation extensions (to flower beds) are
completed.
2. Modified Garden Bed Cages (allowing for easier access to
planting beds). Modifications
are mostly completed; effective improvements. Working so well, I
am expanding the modifications to more areas.
3. Constructed functional Ram Pumps (traditional and silent). Testing phase at a later date.
4. Still clearing dead fall from the road continuing down to our
bamboo-populated watercourse. Still
about 70% complete, thanks to all the thunderstorms / wind.
5. Installing a "Chicken Coop" Solar Panel is delayed. Primarily,
the solar set-up for the coop will be used to power a small fan
(especially helpful during the Summer months).
