"The most horrible and most inhumane poverty is the lack of God."
Robert Cardinal Sarah ("The Power of Silence") Guinean Prelate, Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments

"Truly, matters in the world are in a bad state; but if you and I begin to reform ourselves, a really good beginning will have been made."
Saint Peter of Alcantara (1499-1562) Franciscan Friar, Mystic, Confessor of St Teresa of Avila, Patron Saint of Watchmen/ Night Watchmen

"Follow the saints, because those who follow them will become saints."
Pope Saint Clement (?-101) Consecrated Bishop of St Peter the Apostle, Apostolic Father, Fourth Pope, Martyr; Patron Saint of Boaters, Sailors, Stonecutters.

“Above all, don't lie to yourself. The man who lies to himself and listens to his own lie comes to a point that he cannot distinguish the truth within him, or around him, and so loses all respect for himself and for others. And having no respect he ceases to love.” ( The Brothers Karamazov)
Fyodor Dostoyevsky (1821-1881) Writer, Essayist, Journalist and Philosopher

"The notion that the unborn should be treated alternately as a baby or a mass of tissue dependent entirely upon whether or not the pregnancy is wanted may be intended as a way of supporting a woman’s bodily autonomy, but this unscientific shifting of language unwittingly reinforces a misogynistic stereotype of women as shallow and childish, whose whims and fancies need to be humoured regardless of the facts ... Did You Know . . .

"Drug overdose was the leading cause of injury (accidental) death in 2012, 2013, and 2014 (U.S.). Among people 25 to 64 years old, drug overdose caused more deaths than motor vehicle traffic crashes."
Nearly half of these overdose deaths were from non-pharmaceuticals.
"10,322 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, accounting for nearly one-third (31%) of all traffic-related deaths in the United States in 2012. ... Drugs other than alcohol (e.g., marijuana and cocaine) are involved in about 18% of motor vehicle driver deaths. These other drugs are often used in combination with alcohol." (CDC)

The contraceptive pill (chemical contraceptive) has been linked to:

Increased risks of developing Breast Cancer (Newsweek, various studies)
Brain Cancer (Time magazine)
Negative effects on brain function (University of Salzberg study)
MS (American Academy of Neurology).

Add to this the links between water pollution and chemical contraception (USGS) ... drugs pass through the human body like many other substances... and the consequences of contraception use could be far-reaching, even disastrous. (commentary)

“Some researchers (using very conservative figures) have calculated that birth control pills directly cause between 1.53 and 4.15 million chemical abortions per year in the United States - up to two and a half times the total number of surgical abortions committed every year!”
(Dr. Brian Clowes, PhD in Civil Engineering and Systems Science, Author and Researcher, Director of Education and Research at HLI)

“The intricate processes by which a baby develops from a single cell are miraculous....  This cell [the zygote] results from the union of an oocyte [egg] and sperm.  A zygote is the beginning of a new human being...."   “Human development begins at fertilization [emphasis in original]...." (The Developing Human, Clinically Oriented Embryology, 6th Edition, Moore, Persaud, Saunders, 1998)

Sexually Transmitted Conditions/Diseases (including AIDS, cervical cancer/HPV-related illnesses, and infant deaths), claim the lives of an estimated  18,000-26,000 persons per year (U.S.). (rightdiagnosis.com, CDC, WHO)

CDC conservatively estimates that the lifetime cost of treating eight of the most common STIs contracted in just one year is $15.6 billion.

"A study published in JAMA Pediatrics in March 2016 shows a high prevalence of psychiatric diagnoses in a sample of 298 young "transgender" women." ... Rates of suicide attempts by those with :gender identity" issues are over 28 times higher than that of the general population (U.S.). Nevertheless, no objective diagnostic tests for psychological care are currently in use. (Daily Signal)

Within 24 hours after you quit smoking, your risk of suffering a heart attack decreases. Within one year after quitting, the excess risk of coronary heart disease is reduced by 50 percent. (American Cancer Society)

Smoking marijuana is at least as damaging to the respiratory system (compromised lung health) and immune system (decreased ability to fight infections) as cigarette smoking. (American Lung Association)
Additionally, cannabis is addictive, and heavy cannabis (marijuana) use has been linked to decreased brain function and development (especially with prolonged use of the drug, starting in adolescence). (National Institute on Drug Abuse)

In addition to protecting the body from infection and promoting the healing of wounds, Vitamin C has been found to offer protection against the "harmful effects of pollution" (Balch and Balch, Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 8).

"Table sugar can stimulate the production of fat in the body". (Winters, A Consumer's Dictionary of Food Additives 380)

The B vitamins help the body convert food to energy, and they have been shown to help lower cholesterol.

Why Go To The Gym (or even better, build a home gym)?

One of our favorite pastimes: Workouts at the gym (now, our home gym). While most would agree that regular exercise is important, many still lack the motivation to develop a routine. We've put together a list of reasons making a commitment to your workout routine is advisable.

Cardiovascular Development. Becoming active (walking, running, biking, etc.) helps to strengthen the cardiovascular system and makes you more efficient. Therefore, endurance during physical exercise can increase substantially.

Muscular Development. You not only look and feel better, but muscles become more efficient and, of course, stronger.

Increased Flexibility. Range of motion is improved.

Stress Relief. Exercise provides an outlet for daily stresses. Also, endorphins are released during exercise, providing you with a natural high.

Bad Habits Curtailed. Frequent trips to the gym, or simply exercising, can help to support changes of habit. (For example, you cannot smoke in a gym.) Also, exercise can replace such destructive habits.

Increased Knowledge. Working out may motivate you to learn more about your body, exercise, nutrition, and healthy living.

Relationships. When working out regularly, you meet people with similar goals who can offer you support and new ideas, not to mention their friendship. Also, working out with your spouse can add a new dimension to your relationship.

Note: Working in a backyard garden and/or other outdoor projects have many of the same benefits as a workout in a gym ... and the added benefits of fresh air and enjoyment of the surrounding beauty of vegetation and wildlife.
